The Chinese hate 스타 워즈 : 마지막 제다이. Despite a massive marketing campaign and plastering Disney’s attempt at “diversifying” the franchise all over the airwaves, social media and video distribution services, the Chinese did not, do not, and will not like 스타 워즈 : 마지막 제다이. The film brought in less than $50 million after a few weeks at theaters in mainland China, and now it’s being pulled from all theaters in China.
에 따르면 헐리우드 리포터, Jimmy Wu, the chairman of Lumiere Pavilions cinema chain in China, told them…
“The Last Jedi has already been completely pulled from cinemas here,” […] “It’s performed much worse than we could have expected.”
스타 워즈 : 마지막 제다이 already had a massive second-week drop-off in the West, and is now playing little fiddle to Dwane “The Rock” Johnson’s Jumanji reboot, which has taken over the top spot in the box office in North America.
However, in China the film tells an increasingly salient trend regarding Disney’s take on the 스타 워즈 franchise: Chinese hate Social Justice propaganda.
스타 워즈 : 포스가 깨어 난다 made a disappointing $124 million in China, while 도적 하나 : 스타 워즈 스토리 only made $69 million despite featuring Chinese superstar Donnie Yen, and 스타 워즈 : 마지막 제다이 rounded out the trio of new films with less than $50 million.
The Hollywood Reporter tries to blame it on the new films using old references that Chinese moviegoers are unfamiliar with, but even that doesn’t fly when they themselves noted that the increasingly convoluted 빠르고 격렬한 films have made just shy of $400 million in China, even though the first five films were never released theatrically in the region, thus proving that “old references” excuse doesn’t fly for 스타 워즈‘ poor performance in China.
However, in a lot of Liberal-oriented media websites, there have been very obvious attempts to 지원 talk about the elephant in the room: Liberal agitprop.
In China they’ve come up with the term “Baizuo” to reference the Regressive Left, where-as in English speaking regions they are simply called “Social Justice Warriors”. 열기 민주주의 explains what the Chinese really think of SJWs.
These Social Justice Warriors have infiltrated most popular media in the West and have attempted to use movies, music and video games to inculcate the general population with sociopolitical engineering themed around post-modern cultural Marxism.
Despite heavily pushing such propaganda in much of today’s media, whether it be in television, video games or in movies, some Westerners will accept it regardless of how much it degrades the quality of the product, as evident with so many Westerners still supporting Disney’s 마지막 제다이 (although to be fair, many Westerners did push back quite heavily against propaganda-filled properties like 매스 이펙트 : 안드로메다의 2016 고스트 버스 터즈 reboot-sequel, 울펜 슈타인 2 세및 신체 상해의 에이전트). The Chinese, however, are a lot more intolerant of Western propaganda it seems, and are rejecting it outright, as evident with 마지막 제다이 bombing pretty badly over in the mainland of the ROC.
Heck, even actor Mark Hamill expressed his displeasure with the way Disney has been handling the films, feeling as if they weren’t being true to the characters from the original trilogy. The clips compiled by Film Gob speak volumes.
Hamill’s candidness was appreciated among the fans… just until Disney put a gag order on him.
The Liberal-controlled media in the West will never admit to the social engineering falling flat on its face when attempting to make the cultural leap from the West to the East, but as pointed out by the box office trends of Disney’s latest trio of 스타 워즈 films in China, the numbers simply do not lie. The Chinese are not fond of Social Justice Warriors at all.
